Local pet clinic warns about buying online pet medication

November 17, 2008

Central pet care clinic in Carthage has been getting an increase in calls regarding on-line pet pharmaceutical needs.

The clinic says some products could be coming from Europe or Mexico where FDA standards are not applied.

A veterinarian at the clinic explained what happened when one of her clients bought pet meds online.

"We did have one customer who ordered a very common over the counter flea medication online," said Dr. Melanie Grundy.  "It came in but the packaging was all in Spanish. So we aren't really sure where that came from."

Dr. Grundy urges pet owners to contact their veterinarian before buying pet medications on-line.
