Gov. Blunt Appoints Powell to Sixteenth Judicial Circuit Court

JEFFERSON CITY—Gov. Matt Blunt appointed Wesley Brent Powell to the Office of Circuit Judge of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit.

"I congratulate Brent on his appointment as judge and wish him well as he takes on his new duties and service to Missourians," Gov. Blunt said.

Mr. Powell, 37 of Kansas City, is Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney in Kansas City. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from William Jewell College and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Mr. Powell also has served in the U.S. Attorney’s Office as Chief of the General Crimes Unit and as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Narcotics Unit.

Mr. Powell will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable J.D. Williamson, Jr.
