Gov. Blunt Announces Over $333,000 in Grants to Support Missouri Firefighters

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Matt Blunt today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded Missouri $333,235 in grants to support Missouri’s fire departments and to help enhance Missourians safety.
"We rely on our firefighters and first responders to protect our safety and security during our times of need," Gov. Blunt said. "These grants will help ensure that Missouri’s firefighters have the tools they need to effectively and efficiently perform their duties to protect lives and property."
The following departments received grants:
• Bell City Fire Department, Bell City, $12,350 for operations and safety
• Bethany Fire Department, Bethany, $146,775 for vehicle acquisition
• Diamond Area Fire Protection District, Diamond, $38,000 for operations and safety
• Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District, Rogersville, $68,400 for operations and safety
• Marion Co. R-II Fire Dept./First Responders, Philadelphia, $13,984 for operations and safety
• Ozark Fire Protection District, Ozark, $53,726 for operations and safety
The departments will use the grants to fund training, personal protective and other equipment, wellness and fitness, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program awards grants to local fire departments. The grant program provides the departments with the tools they need to enhance the safety of the public they serve and their firefighters.
